     Loren Harold Boman, 84, of Broadwater entered into eternal rest  Friday, December 30, 2011.  At Loren’s request cremation has taken place.

     A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday,  January 5, 2012 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Broadwater , Nebraska with  Ann Bairn PMA officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Naval Honor Guard and the Sons of the American Legion.

     In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be made to the Broadwater Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit or to Messiah Lutheran Church of Broadwater. 

     Loren was born to Dan and Pearl (Jergensen) Boman July 11, 1927 in Broadwater.  He graduated from Broadwater High School and served in the U.S. Navy.  Upon discharge from the Navy he returned to the family farm northeast of Broadwater.  He married Shirley Smith and to this union four children were born.  Loren and family left the family farm to move to Colorado, they were later divorced and Loren married Iris Younkin Schmidt, they lived in Montana, only to return to the family farm northeast of Broadwater.  They divorced and Loren united with Luilla Thompson, his soul mate, living southeast of Broadwater for the last 17 years.

     Loren was a 4-H leader, 4-H Council member, Boy Scout Leader, Messiah Lutheran Council Member, Broadwater Volunteer Fire Department member, a Sherriff’s Posse member and a 67 continous year member of the Broadwater American Legion Jesse Snyder Post #312, being a Past Post Commander.

     Loren forever loved practical jokes and pranks, performed on unsuspecting family and friends.  Loren held dear to his heart farming, and his farm animals, especially Buddy, his faithful chocolate lab.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

     Loren leaves behind his special friend, Luilla Thompson of Broadwater; daughters, Patricia (Rex) Wilcox of Altamont, UT, and Gaylene Boman and special friend Larry Frame of Sedgwick, CO; sons, Dennis and Frank, both of Broadwater;  Luilla’s sons  and daughters, Price (Rose) Policky of Astoria, OR, Karin (Mike) Tilley of Littleton, CO, Jeff (Kathy) Policky of North Platte, NE, Anton (Cindy) Policky of Scottsbluff, Kim Hart of Sheridan, WY, Wade Thompson of Broadwater, Teka (Mike) Francis of Broadwater,  Twila (Steve) McClung of Anchorage, AK;  sisters, Pauline  (Dan) Neu of Pueblo, CO, Bernice Neu of Elizabeth CO and Annamarie Boman of Bridgeport; numerous nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

     Preceding Loren in death are his parents and one infant brother, Harry.

Sorry to hear of your loss, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Loren did enjoy life and I always appreciated his humor and just being around him even if he did think I owed him a falcon axle....he might have been correct!!!
